THE HOTTEST YTB INSPIRATIONAL TALK HOST OF ALL TIME!
INTRODUCTION:
Kevin Angelo Vaughan, PowerTeam Leader and Team Spectrum Team Co-founder will be right here with inspired words for the mind body and soul. Kevin is executive producer and host of his own weekly community gospel internet radio show, Men Let's Talk out of Altanta GA.
Kevin's words will be his own, totally unedited and not necessarily reflecting the viewpoints of YTB Travel and Cruises International. But what we can promise is we all will have something positive in our minds that we all will want to share to uplift others.
Questions, topic ideas or comments for "Kev Sez" can be sent to "goteamspectrum(AT)gmail.com"
And as Kevin says, "Welcome to the Future!"
Answer: Have you ever been in the midst of pitching your service, product or initiative and were asked,
"Do you have a business card?"
Did you respond with that self
conscious look and apologize sheepishly because you did not have one?
Embarrassed by your lack of professionalism, you wrote your contact
info on the back of napkin or scrap of paper. In all probability, the
paper was later discarded as pocket trash.
RULE
1: The Basic Tool
Your business card is your basic networking tool. Without it, you are
like a carpenter without a hammer--like a surgeon without a scalpel-- like a
student without a pencil. Without your business cards, you are unarmed in the
competitive world of marketing, promotion and public relations. Your business
card is vital to the marketing and promotion of your business. It is essential
in networking regardless of your field.
RULE
2: Business Currency
While business cards are the currency
of business, we do not advocate just passing out your cards arbitrarily to
anyone. You should first establish a connection with your potential associate.
Your business card's purpose is to provide contact information for the follow
up connection. Once you have made a connection and you have got their business
card, immediately following the encounter, be sure to stop and make a notation
on the back of the card with relevant information. Information such as where
you met; names of their children, hobbies, initiatives and interesting facts
you uncovered during the conversation are great follow up conversation
starters.
RULE
3: Use Your Cards As Memory Joggers
People are thrilled
when you remember things about them. It makes them feel special and
appreciated. My dentist is a good example of this process. During our initial
consultation, I mentioned my daughters and their schools. At a follow up
appointment, he asked how my daughters are doing and mentioned something about
their schools. Of course, I knew he must have written down the information on
my chart. But just the idea, he took
the time to note this information about my life, made me feel special and want
to give him more of my business. Just collecting these tidbits, makes it
easy to make follow up calls and contacts.
Here are some guidelines for your business
card.
A. Your design must clear and clean. Not too
busy with words or pictures. It should make a statement about who you are.
B. Paper quality- While those computer
printed cards are convenient, your card should be at least an 80-pound stock.
Cheap cards make you look cheap or fly by night. If you must use computerized
business cards, try and get the heaviest card stock you can get.
C. Your phone number and email are of utmost
importance. This is especially true if you are job hunting. Be sure that your
contact number is not going to be answered by young children. (Voicemail is
great with a professional message.) All information should up to date and no
typos. Where to hand out your cards:
1. Don't just walk up to people and hand them
your cards. Carefully select your prospects and only after you have made your
pitch do you offer your card.
2. Hand them out at meetings and
networking events.
3. When requested.
4. Distribute your cards at trade shows
or resource fairs and have an AMPLE supply if you are working a booth
5. Anywhere the opportunity presents
itself but always consider rule #1. Your
business card is your basic networking tool

In reply to Travel
Weekly article about YTB financials being in question by auditors. (Read the 2nd
paragraph. Also, most auditors are number crunchers, not enthusiasts of hope.)
But first, read this article about “hotels failing.” But they still keep building
hotels, don’t they?
http://travelweekly.com/article3_ektid191976.aspx
Just know that news articles are in the business of doing one thing well…sensationalism
does not have to be fair (if it was they wouldn’t sell one sheet of a
newspaper. Education is the key from people who know the real deal. And it ain’t
people who quit when times get tough.)
Now for Scott’s letter….then go out there and make it a great day! Your Team Spectrum partners for life, Ken, Cyn & Kev.
Exhibit 99.1
Open Letter from the CEO
As you may have seen on our website, our auditor, UHY LLP, issued a “going concern” opinion in conjunction with their audit of our December 31, 2008 financial statements.
Some comfort can be taken from the fact that a record number of public
companies were given going concern opinions by their audit firms, at least 550
so far this year. The global recession and lack of available credit due to the
banking crisis pose obstacles to profitability for many companies.
In spite of the current economy, we have a real reason for optimism, and we feel that the strength of our product, our people, and our planning will result in an even stronger foundation for growth in the coming quarters. In the last two years, we have generated Net Cash Provided by Operating Activities of $19 million, which has been invested in purchases of property and equipment. In 2008 we expensed over $17 million in non-recurring expenditures. We were able to do this from our internal operating cash flow without incurring any long term debt. We believe a good portion of these expenses will support our future growth.
Few of the world’s leaders,
including the
But let me be clear. We are not standing in line waiting for someone to bail us out. We have made tough decisions and reduced our expenses. We have planned for the tough quarters ahead, and we believe we’re ready for the challenges that lie ahead.
We are working to improve retention of our Affiliates, which should increase our cash flow. We recently introduced a savings portal available through our Affiliates that allows their customers to receive cash back at more than 600 regional and nationally known stores. We are helping them become more productive through some of the best available training in our industry.
We are working to increase sales through events like Red Carpet Days, where last Tuesday 1,550 people came to our corporate office to see first-hand what YTB is all about. And the Founders are beginning a nationwide tour to take our message of hope and opportunity to our top 20 markets. The opportunity YTB presents to people to grow a business, take control of their lives and determine their futures continues to be compelling. And it should be.
We are working to help our sales force qualify for generous bonuses and additional benefits. YTB Marketing just introduced a new Sales Director program that potentially reduces by 80% the number of sales required to qualify for monthly revenue sharing and company-paid group health insurance. This is a terrific benefit and people are really excited about it, which should enable us to recruit even more talented, hard-working Reps who embrace business challenges eagerly.
Anyone can criticize. It takes real courage to start and build a business, to ride the waves of good times and bad, and to stick to it when it is not fun, when it’s just sheer hard work. That’s what we’re doing. We’re sticking with it, riding out the storm, and we believe we’re going to come out stronger on the other side. Our existing Reps are riding it out with us. Together, we can build an even stronger, more solid foundation for growth in the coming months. Together, we can prosper.
And if we work together to meet our goals, when we come out of this together, we will look at the competitors who fell by the wayside, lend a hand to help them get back on their feet, and know that the men and women of YTB are recognized industry leaders. You are the leaders who wouldn’t say “can’t,” wouldn’t give up, and wouldn’t listen to the naysayers. You are industry leaders because of your actions. Now, let’s get to it, we’ve got a company to build!
Scott Tomer

From Juliet St. John: Welcome to the Future!
Kevin.

"Dumbest Thing In The World: Quitting Too Soon!"
From: Juilet St. John
There's certainly nothing new about it: Quitting.
People have forever quit on everything. People quit jobs, quit going to the gym, quit going to church, quit on their marriages, and in some cases even quit on themselves.
At YTB, the ONLY way to lose is to quit.
So, it's not going as fast as you would like. You talked to your brother in law and he said "No". Big deal.
You would be amazed at how many people who do get rich in network marketing - were tempted to quit right before it all came together for them.
But there is no disputing the fact that in this microwave society of instant results we live in, that most people get tired of waiting, trying, dreaming and just give up. Why is this?
The following is at least a partial list of reasons (excuses) why people quit:
1. They really were never very clear about what they wanted to begin with. It's not enough to say, "I want more money", or, "I want to be a success". You must have an exact, specific, detailed image of what you are doing this for. "Your why better make you cry."
2. They thought it would easier. Let's be honest. We want it, and we want it handed to us, and we want it now. The winning lottery numbers, yeah, that would be easy.
3. They thought it would happen sooner and more quickly. They don't want to wait, pay the price and really grow the business. "What, I've been doing YTB for six months and I'm not financially independent yet!"
4. They didn't think it would involve work. Sounds funny, even to say it, but is true. Many people don't get the concept that YTB is a business like anything else and involves work to get it where you want it. Work this like a business, and it will reward you like a business.
5. They let someone kill their dreams. Dream stealers, they're everywhere. They think it's their place in life to tell you all the reasons that this won't work.
Everyone from your neighbor to your in-laws has an opinion about everything. Everyone thinks they are the final authority. I have a clue for you: If the guy or gal (including your spouse) giving their opinion doesn't earn the kind of income and have the kind of lifestyle that you would like to have, what are you even listening to them for?
6. Biggest reason of all: Somewhere along the way, they lost faith in themselves and the opportunity.
Look over the above list carefully. Are there any area's in your experience where you are wavering? Thinking about giving up?
It is important to continually feed your mind with the right kind of knowledge and encouragement through books, DVD's and CD's. If you've been reading this newsletter for a while, you know what a fanatic about self-improvement I am.
I had someone say a little sarcastically one time, "You really ARE into this self improvement thing - aren't you?"
To which I answered, "Well, yes ... I guess I am. Since I suppose the alternative would be what? Not be interested in self-improvement?"
Listen. Keep going for it. Just do the work, and enjoy the process. Find ways to celebrate even those who say "no". Don't expect that there will always be a crowd cheering you on.
The truth is, most people don't want to see you succeed big time anyway. They are afraid you'll get too far ahead of them. They're afraid your success will show their lack of effort for what it is.
Don't Give Up !!! (Ever)

Step 1: Don't live in denial In January 1996, I was coming off my best year in cycling. Suddenly, at age 25, I learned I had advanced testicular cancer. I was given a 50-50 chance of survival and virtually no chance of ever cycling, racing, or competing again. I found the best doctors I could and dealt with it head-on.
Apply it: Confront the reality of your situation. Pretending a problem doesn't exist means you'll never conquer it.
Step 2: Come back from your low point. After cancer surgery, I was at the lowest point of my life, physically and emotionally. But to me, it was all upside from there. That's where the comeback began. When you're at that low point, stop and cherish it because it feels so good to come back.
Apply it: Character is built by picking yourself up after a setback. Don't limit yourself by focusing on prior obstacles. Turn your struggles into fuel for your successes.
Step 3: Surround yourself with a good team. I believed that when I announced my comeback, I would be in demand, but the top offers never came. I joined the American cycling team-- we had to revitalize our focus, formulate a strategy, and train hard to win.
Apply it: The right people make all the difference. Seek the guidance and support to turn your situation around. Don't be afraid to reach out.
Step 4: Face new challenges. After riding for 20 years, I'm heading out into the world to find new horizons. I'm facing new challenges that make seven Tour wins look small: being the best father and advocate I can be. I love a good fight. Let's face our challenges together. I'll ride right alongside you. We all have good fights we need to fight.
Apply it: Comebacks evolve and take time and work. New challenges always arise. Don't back down from the fight to improve your life. Only after we overcome life's strains and difficulties do we truly appreciate the unprecedented highs.

Provide Untapped Value to the Customer: "The most critical thing with any new venture is we must deliver a tremendous value to the consumer so that it enhances all the ventures we've done before it," says Branson. Today, the Virgin brand encompasses everything from soft drinks to airlines. Branson's approach has been to provide something unique in each venture; something the competition lacks. Find the value, find the customers.
Exploit a Passion: "I start businesses when I have a passion for something. That's also why I went into the airline business, even though everybody I talked to told me that there was no money to be made there. I felt that I could make a difference. That's the best reason to go into business because you feel strongly that you can change things," says Branson. It's the entrepreneurial passion and attitude that makes the difference in achieving lasting success.
Trust Your Instincts: "A business has to be involving, it has to be fun, and it has to exercise your creative instincts." Case in point, the "rebel-billionaire" relied on gut instincts to take advantage of opportunities when they presented themselves. Branson wasn't born wealthy, and began his empire by selling yet-to-be touched (i.e. "Virgin") records out of the trunk of his car when it was unheard of to do so. Slowly but surely, he built the expanded his business until it became the multi-billion dollar empire we know today. Mix a great idea with passion.

"Unease, anxiety, tension, stress, worry ... all forms of fear ... are cause by too much future, and not enough presence. Guilt, regret, resentment, grievances, sadness, bitterness, and all forms of non-forgiveness are caused by too much past, and not enough presence."
Apply it: Liberate your thoughts by not drowning in the negative aspects of your past, or the "what ifs" of tomorrow. Go out of your way to embrace life as it unfolds.

It's not that we're all in YTB, but that YTB is in US that attracts people to want to BE with us.
A Good Definition of Wealth from Dictionary.com:
"An abundance or profusion of anything; plentiful amount."
So if a person is physically rich, yet spiritually poor, they are still POOR!
If they are spiritually rich, yet physically poor, they are still POOR!
If they intellectually rich (lots of college degrees and awards) but physically and/or spiritually poor, ditto.
Everything that is in balance is the only way that true wealth can ever exist.Wealth is not what we have, but what continues on after we no longer exist in this world for those we care about.
Welcome to The Future! God bless,
from Kevin.
